About This Project

The Greenhill Road Median Safety Improvement project is part of South Australia’s Road Safety Strategy: Towards Zero Together.

The aim of the project is to improve the safety of DPTI infrastructure at locations with significant traffic volumes. As Greenhill Road has an excess of 50,000 vehicles per day the project was a key component of their road safety strategy.

GREENHILL was engaged by DPTI to provide concept design, detailed design and preparation of the community consultation plans for the section of Greenhill Road between Goodwood Road and George Street.

The project included modifying existing median openings, installing new U-turn facilities, installing shared bicycle and pedestrian refuges opposite Porter Street, Roberts Street, Joslin Street and Clark Street, extending existing right turn lanes and restricting right turn movements from side streets.

GREENHILL worked closely with DPTI and the community to ensure the upgrades provided a positive outcome for local residents, businesses and transitioning pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles.

Construction of the $1.9 million project has now been completed.
