Westwood is an urban regeneration precinct of affordable housing located in Mansfield Park/Athol Park. GREENHILL has provided services to precincts 5 and 6. Old Housing Trust homes were demolished, allotments reset, soils remediated and services upgraded or replaced as appropriate.
The existing road network was redesigned with improved intersection with the wider road network. GREENHILL liaised closely with service authorities to maximise use of existing services and connection where possible and to remove unnecessary services.
A significant challenge was the design of the stormwater system, requiring a detention basin within an existing network, reducing localised flooding problems by creating detention systems that minimised disruption to recreational activities on the reserve land. The solution permits low flows to run through the system until capacity is exceeded. When this occurs, stormwater is redirected into the detention basins.
